The Iberian Peninsula is where I’ve spent most of my European travel time. Having a working knowledge of both languages helps and makes it easier to get around. The photos here from L to R are: In Portugal; vineyards at the town of Estremoz; Eléctrico 28 trams in Lisbon; Largo do Chiado, a square in Lisbon; A Rabelo flat bottom boat on the Douro River at Porto; Azulejos (painted ceramic tiles) of the grape harvest at the Tua train station; Azulejos at the 16th century Universidade de Evora; the walls that surround the medieval city of Valenca do Minho; 2nd century Roman ruins at Conimbriga; The exterior & interior of the church of the 12th century Convento do Cristo in Tomar (notice the Trompe-l’œil painting of a pulpit on the left to match the right side pulpit); the hilltop town of Monsaraz in the Alentejo; and the library of the Palácio Nacional de Mafra; the glorious Gothic/Manueline architecture of the Batalha Monastery. From Spain: 2 photos of the Plaza de España in Seville; the orange grove outside the Catedral de Sevilla; The Castle and Aqueduct in Segovia; 4 of the Alhambra in Granada; and 3 of the Mezquita/Catedral in Córdoba, and a bike rider doing a wheelie down a cobblestone street there. Finally some streets in Madrid, and the Puerta del Sol.
